ELEMENTARY

VISION:
Our vision and prayer is that the life giving power of God’s Word would be the foundation for everything our children are and do (Psalm 1:1-3), that they would be powerfully transformed into his glorious likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18), that they would strive to serve rather than to be served (Matthew 20:28), and that they would make God known to the world (John 20:21).

How we’re going to get there…

MISSION:
- To equip and support parents who are primarily responsible for teaching and modeling biblical truths to their children (Ephesians 6:4).
- To make the Word of God known (Romans 1:16-17; Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
- To pray for the children and rely on the Holy Spirit to regenerate their hearts through the faithful teaching of his Word (Romans 10:17; Ephesians 2:4-10).
- To live faithfully before the children and model for them how Christians are called to respond to God, interact with each other, interact with the world around them, and to encourage them to serve and to not just be served (Matthew 5:16; Mark 10:43-45)
- To prepare the children to one day walk with God as adults - which means getting them ready to be a part of corporate worship and living their life in Gospel community on mission (Matthew 28:16-20).
- To maintain a safe and secure environment with the highest ethical standards such that volunteers and teachers always live and serve above reproach, in order for the gospel to be communicated without distraction.

HOW THINGS WORK:
On Sundays, our children study God's word in a way that they can understand, relate to, and learn. We use the Gospel Project Curriculum because it helps us teach our children the stories of the Bible in light of the big story of the Bible, which points to Jesus. This curriculum is fun, exciting, and provides plenty of opportunities for parents to discuss and learn more throughout the week.

During the week, our children remain an integral part of our church family, so they are incorporated into the life of our Gospel Communities where they get to participate alongside adults in the rhythms of Christian life. This means we are intentional with learning, praying, worshiping, serving, resting, repenting, and eating together.  In addition to normal, intentional Christian life, we occasionally have events and playdates with a children's focus for both internal and external relational growth. Examples include:  Vacation Bible School, movie viewings, parties, and outings. You can stay on top of all our Children's Ministry happenings by watching for announcements on Realm (the communications outlet for FCC) as well as viewing the children's bulletin board at the church building. (Don’t have a Realm account? Then email FCC admin at info@fourcornersnewnan.org request one — Easy peezy!)

HOME/CHURCH CONNECTION:
Here are several ways that the children can continue their learning at home each week:
- Practice the Bible verse with Mom and Dad.
- Practice the current week’s catechism question-and-answer.
- Talk about what we learned at our church gathering on Sunday.
- Apply what was taught. (For example, if we talked about The Lord’s Prayer, you can help your children learn the prayer and learn the meaning).
- Sing the songs that we sang at our church gathering.
- Take advantage of the Gospel Project App or visiting Gospel Project Resources.
